Andrea F. Czimmer, 17, and Alexis R. Porter, 17, died after Czimmer lost control of the vehicle they were in, causing it to flip several times on Interstate 81 southbound, police said.

Family friend Corine Beckwith started a fundraiser for Porter’s family to raise money for funeral expenses and other costs.

Calling hours for Porter are Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home at 9 Lincoln Ave. in Cortland.

Her funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Church at 59 N. Main St. in Cortland.

Beckwith, who started the fundraiser, said she’s known Porter since the teen was 2-years-old and they considered themselves sisters.

She said Porter was a lacrosse player at Cortland High School who was set to graduate 14 days after the crash happened.

Beckwith said Porter planned to be a teacher.

Czimmer’s funeral is 3 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church at 59 N. Main St. in Cortland. No calling hours are listed.

She graduated from Tompkins Cortland Community College prior to graduating high school. She planned to attend the University of Vermont this fall to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian, according to her obituary.

Michael Conlon, 18, was also in the vehicle wen it crashed. He’s in stable condition at Upstate University Hospital, officials said Wednesday.

The cause of the accident is being investigated, police said.
