HARFORD, N.Y. — A Cortland man was arrested on a felony DWI charge after he was driving while impaired by drugs with his four-year-old child in the vehicle, according to state police.

At about 8:54 p.m. Saturday, James P. Platt, 29, was seen failing to keep right as he drove on State Route 38 in the town of Harford.

An investigation determined that Platt was driving while impaired by drugs with his four-year-old child as a passenger. After smelling marijuana in the car, police searched the vehicle and found 35 grams of marijuana and a small amount of suboxone.

Platt refused to submit to a test of his blood to determine his drug content, police said.

He was arraigned in Virgil Town Court and taken to Cortland County Jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 property bond.

His next court date is in Harford Town Court on August 23.
