CORTLAND, N.Y. — A Cortland County SPCA officer was confronted by a man with a knife following a visit to the man's home Thursday afternoon, the sheriff's office said.

Morse was charged with menacing a police officer or peace officer, a class D felony, and unlawful possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Cortlandville Town Court and taken to Cortland County Jail on $100 cash bail. He is scheduled to reappear in town court Oct. 31.
