CORTLAND, N.Y. — A winter weather advisory will go into effect for Cortland County at 4 a.m. Tuesday and last through 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
In a weather briefing issued Monday, meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Binghamton say the region will receive a thin ice coating from freezing rain, which could create unsafe road and travel conditions during the morning commute.
Freezing rain accumulations are expected to amount to less than a tenth of an inch:
Mixed precipitation — including light snow, sleet, and freezing rain — is expected to arrive in the Cortland area between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing by late Tuesday morning, which will cause the precipitation to turn to rain.
