City solicits ideas to revitalize downtown Cortland

The City of Cortland is soliciting the community’s help in identifying big ideas to be included into Cortland’s submission to New York State’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative $10 million grant application.

A community workshop for ideas will be held Thursday, May 25, at 5:15 p.m. at the Cortland Elks Lodge, located at 9 Groton Avenue. You can also pitch your concept to the city by filling out this submission form.

The only requirement is that projects must have the potential for transformative impact on downtown Cortland.

One application in the Central York Region will be awarded a $10 million grant based on the merit of their concept's ability to catalyze development in their urban core and transform the community.

The Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) is a $100 million effort to improve the urban vitality of city centers across New York State. The initiative will invest $10 million in each of 10 communities, transforming downtown neighborhoods into vibrant communities where the next generation of New Yorkers will want to live, work and raise families.
