SUNY Cortland's Jack Flood named Atlantic Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year

SUNY Cortland senior Jack Flood (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) has been selected as the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Men's Atlantic Region Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year.

Flood has now earned the award for both the indoor and outdoor seasons this year. The national champion in the heptathlon during the indoor season, Flood enters this week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships ranked first nationally in the decathlon. He posted a school-record score of 7,021 points at the Kutztown Mondschein Multi in mid-April. Flood also ranks 12th in the high jump at 2.07 meters (6' 9.5"), which he recorded at the Oneonta Final Qualifier in mid-May, but he will not compete in that event at nationals due to his decathlon schedule.

Flood will be one of eight Cortland men competing at the NCAA Division III championship meet this Thursday through Saturday, May 25-27, in Geneva, Ohio. The Red Dragons will also be sending two women to the national meet.
