SUNY Cortland's Justin Teague named Baseball First Team Academic All-American

SUNY Cortland junior catcher Justin Teague (North Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) has been selected as a 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Baseball First Team Academic All-American. He is one of only three catchers nationally in Division III to earn Academic All-America recognition.

In addition, Teague was named to the Academic All-District Team for District 3. The district covers all Division III schools in New York State.

An early childhood and childhood education major, Teague entered the spring semester with a 3.65 overall grade point average.

Teague batted .374 with seven doubles, a triple, a homer, 28 RBI and 26 runs scored in 43 games, 40 as a starter. He ranked fourth on the team in RBI, runs and batting average. Teague recorded 16 multiple-hit games, including three hits in six different contests.

Teague is Cortland's 30th national Academic All-American overall and the 10th since 2011. He is the sixth Cortland baseball player to earn the award, and the first since Mike Burnett in 2005.
