CORTLAND, N.Y. - A Cortland man was arrested in Madison County over the weekend, accused of driving drunk to a private residence while wearing makeup to portray Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz.

On Sunday, police responded to a home on Perryville Road in the town of Sullivan for a reportedly intoxicated male on private property.

Police interviewed the homeowner, who told them that the man, later identified as 31-year-old Nicholas E. Sherman, of Cortland, drove to the residence with another male and was asked by the homeowner to leave the property. While being interviewed by police, Sherman told troopers that he had just left a business in the village of Chittenango where he was hired to portray a character from The Wizard of Oz.

Police did not specify which character he was hired to portray, but judging by his mugshot, we are willing to wager that it was Tin Man.

Sherman submitted to a breathalyzer test, which resulted in a B.A.C. of .19%, according to police. He was charged with aggravated DWI, an unclassified misdemeanor.

He is scheduled to appear in Sullivan Town Court on June 20 at 4 p.m.
