Cops: Loaded firearm found in vehicle during traffic stop

Narrative: On July 4, at approximately 1:28 a.m., the Uniform Patrol Division of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle on Route 41 near the intersection of Brake Hill Road in the Town of Homer for an inadequate tail light. During the traffic stop, Prugger told the officers that he had a pistol in the vehicle, according to Lt. Todd Caufield with the sheriff's office. Officers recovered a loaded 22 caliber semi-automatic pistol with a filed off serial number. Prugger was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.

Narrative: On June 28, 2017, at approximately 12:51 am, William J. Van Hoesen was located by officers from the Homer Police Department, sleeping in a running motor vehicle, which was stopped or parked in the driving lane on Cortland Street in Homer. Officers also observed an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the center console of the vehicle. Upon waking the defendant and having him submit to some field sobriety tests, officers determined that the defendant was in an intoxicated condition. The defendant was taken into custody without an incident and was transported to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office for the testing of his blood alcohol content but refused to submit to the test upon their arrival. The defendant was arraigned in the Town of Homer Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear on July 11, 2017 at 4 p.m.

Narrative: On July 3, 2017, at approximately 1:51 am, the defendant was observed by officers from the Homer Police Department, operating a motor vehicle as she crossed the hazard marking on North Main St. Once the motor vehicle was stopped on Route 11, just outside the village, officers determined that the defendant was operating the vehicle while in an intoxicated condition and was taken into custody without incident, Homer police said. The defendant processed and released on traffic tickets to appear in the Town of Homer Court on July 18, 2017 at 4 p.m.
