Homer, N.Y. — Police in the Cortland County village of Homer are investigating an attempted child abduction that occurred Thursday.
Homer police were called to Elm Street around 3:45 p.m. Thursday. They learned that a man asked a 10-year-old girl to get in his car, according to a news release.
The girl, who had been walking home from school, ran away and made is safely back home. The man left before police arrived.
Here’s how police describe him: “A white middle aged male, described as being chubby, clean shaven, with short dark hair …
He was driving an older model, possibly a 2005 or 2006, mid-sized gray colored sedan, possibly a buick. The car had rust around the rear driver’s side fender and a yellow colored license plate.”
Homer police are investigating.
