Cortland, N.Y. — The National Weather Service is warning that an inch of rain in 20 minutes was reported in thunderstorms moving into Tompkins and Cortland counties Tuesday.
The storm is expected to hit its peak in Ithaca and Cortland from about 1 to 5 p.m. with more than a 95 percent chance for rain during those hours, The Weather Channel reports.
The weather service says the storm will move through Tompkins, Cortland, Onondaga and Cayuga counties.
A hazardous weather outlook issued says local flooding, gusty wind and small hail are possible during the storm in Ithaca and Cortland.
