UPDATE: Tornado watch lifted for Cortland County

Update 8:03 p.m. 

The National Weather Service has canceled a tornado watch for all of Central New York.

NYSEG is reporting 505 power outages in Cortland County and more than 4,000 outages in Tompkins County.

TRUXTON, N.Y. – Emergency crews have responded to multiple reports of trees and wires down in northern Cortland County following a tornado warning issued by the National Weather Service.

The warning, which was in effect for Cortland, Cayuga, Chenango, Madison and Onondaga counties, expired at 4:15 p.m. A tornado watch remains in effect until 11 p.m.

At around 4 p.m., emergency crews responded to a home on Salisbury Road, about 3 miles north of the city. The house sustained heavy damage, according to the Cortland County 911 Center.

Crews have also responded to trees and tires down on Route 91 in Truxton.

No major accidents have been reported.
