CORTLAND, N.Y. – 178 youth lacrosse teams throughout Central New York are competing in Cortland as part of the Upstate Lacrosse Association’s Opening Weekend.
The event will draw between 11,000 and 14,000 people to the area, according to Andrea Piedigrossi, recreation supervisor at the Cortland Youth Bureau.
“When the families are here, they’ll make a weekend out of it,” Piedigrossi said.
The tournament includes students in grades 3 through 8. Each team plays two games this weekend.
