Cortland police searching for two suspects in home robbery

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland Police Department is searching for two suspects in connection with a home robbery that happened in the city early Wednesday morning.

At around midnight on Wednesday, police responded to South Avenue for a report of an armed robbery.

An investigation found that two black males entered the home armed with a small handgun and a shotgun, demanding money. Police say the suspects also stole a cellphone.

Police have identified Clayton Shauquan Lawson, 24, as a suspect and have issued a warrant for his arrest. Police have no known address listed for Lawson.

The second suspect is described a tall, thin black male, wearing a black and white bandana with a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with the word "AERO" printed on the front.

Police say both suspects should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Rick Troyer at 758-8307.
