Cortland forecast: Showers and thunderstorms mid-week, sunshine by Friday

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Showers and thunderstorms will cap off a rainy month of June, but forecasters predict sunshine will grace the Cortland area by Friday.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop late Tuesday afternoon and last through Tuesday evening, according to The Weather Channel.

Some of the storms could become severe with damaging winds and large hail, according to the National Weather Service. The greatest chance for severe storms will be across northeastern Pennsylvania.

Showers are expected to teeter off by Thursday. The current forecast for the fourth of July is partly cloudy skies and a chance for showers and thunderstorms, with highs in the upper 70s.

A hazardous weather outlook remains in effect for central New York.
