CORTLAND, N.Y. – It may be the second Friday of the month, but First Friday is full of talented artists this July!

Local artwork will be showcased at various locations this Friday in downtown Cortland from 5 - 8 p.m.

The Cultural Council's gallery space at the Vault will be exhibiting Posed Form: Drawings and Paintings from Life Drawing Sessions.

CCCC hosts a series of Life Drawings sessions throughout the year, at the studio of Richard Mitchell. This exhibit showcases the talented artists who attend these sessions.

Come to the Opening Reception this Friday to see the oil paintings, watercolors, drawings and sketches of the posed form.

The Opening Reception of The Regional Photo Exhibit is happening at the Beard Gallery Friday night. This is the 5th Annual Regional Photo Exhibit held by CCCC.

Exhibited are the works of 20 local photographers, with photographs ranging from a serene landscape, to portraits of Nepalese women, to a shot of the inside of a computer! Come on down to 9 Main Street to talk to the photographers and enjoy refreshments. Awards ceremony at 6:30!

Cortland Free Library is featuring Eileen Arnold. Eileen Arnold has been exploring the portrait in the context of the on-line world since completing a facebook faces project in 2010. In 2013 she completed an artwork a day challenge she set herself. Of the pieces that were portraits she relied on other local choir members, fellow legionnaires and the Rooster Teeth on-line community. This year (2015) she is in the midst of another artwork a day challenge and while still painting portraits she is expanding to the entire figure while simultaneously depicting actual or virtual cosplay as requested by members of Rooster Teeth.
