Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Cortland area

CORTLAND, N.Y. – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for a wide swath of Central New York and parts of northeastern Pennsylvania.

Strong thunderstorms are expected through the evening hours. The watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Sunday.

Forecasters say warm and humid air accompanied by scattered thunderstorms tonight will eventually be replaced by a cold front, with drier and somewhat cooler air on Monday.

Plenty of sunshine is forecast for Monday, with highs reaching into the mid 80s.

Another cold front will likely bring more showers on Tuesday.
