Get ready for Seedstock, Cortland's biggest music festival

CORTLAND, N.Y. – What started as a local party for local bands has grown into the biggest music festival in Cortland County.

Seedstock, a one-day music and arts festival, will take place this Saturday at Reed Seeds on Route 215 in Cortland.

Now in its seventh year, the festival is expected to draw about 1,000 people, according to festival organizer Chris Merkley.

"Each year it's grown a little bit more," Merkley said. "Now we're up to a dozen bands on two stages, and this year we've brought in some bigger names."

John Brown's Body is this year's headliner, but festival goers will also hear music from Big Mean Sound Machine, The Gunpoets and Digger Jones.

The music starts at 10 a.m. and goes until midnight. Following that, two DJs will provide the music for a "silent disco," in which participants are given wireless headphones to dance to the DJ of their choice.
