Kyle Wilcox, 23, of Binghamton, was killed in a one-car accident on Old State Road in the town of Dickinson, the Broome County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday.

An investigation found that Wilcox was driving a 2002 Honda CRV westbound on Old State Road in the town of Dickinson when the vehicle suddenly left the roadway and veered back across both lanes before rolling over.

Emergency crews arrived at around 1 a.m. Thursday to find the vehicle overturned on its roof, with Wilcox trapped inside, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash, authorities said.

Wilcox graduated from SUNY Cortland in May, where he studied business economics, according to college spokesperson Fred Pierce.

"We don't know the circumstances [of the accident], but that doesn't really matter," Pierce said. "Anyone who is so young and just starting off with their whole life ahead of them, it's a tragedy."

The sheriff's office continues to investigate the accident.

Wilcox's death comes less than a month after a recent SUNY Cortland graduate was one of four people killed in an accident on Long Island.
