On Friday night, Beth Mowins was a play-by-play announcer for the Oakland Raiders first preseason game against the St. Louis Rams.

Mowins has spent the last decade doing play-by-play on ESPN for college sports including football, softball, soccer and volleyball.

She began her career calling SUNY Cortland football games for WXHC in Homer.

"That dream was very strong when I was working with you and when I was at Syracuse University as a grad student," Mowins told NewsChannel 9's Jeff Kulikowski in Syracuse. "You're not really sure what the path is, you just know where you want to try and go."

A Syracuse native, Mowins was also a basketball star at Lafayette College. In 2009, she was inducted into the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame.

Mowins will provide play-by-play commentary for the Raiders' final three exhibition games.
