An 81-year-old man who was found alive in Cortland County after a week-long disappearance has died at a hospital, according to family members.
Alfred Turshman was located by a search team in a wooded area in Cincinnatus Satuday morning, officials said. He was then transported by ambulance to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City.
Hours later, Turshman was pronounced dead, according to Nick Turshman, the man's grandson.
"Thank you all for your continued support. Emotional roller coaster was defined today," Turshman wrote in a Facebook post. "Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away at 10 p.m. tonight. We are all very happy as a family to have had the opportunity to see, speak, and be with him after he was found. We, again, want to thank everybody involved in the search efforts, and we greatly appreciate all of the support we have received. We are forever grateful."

CINCINNATUS, N.Y. – Family members and law enforcement officials report that an 81-year-old man who went missing last Saturday has been found alive in Cortland County.

Alfred Turshman, who has dementia, was reported missing last Saturday. His disappearance set off a search effort involving the Cincinnatus Fire Department, state police and family members.
Turshman was found Saturday morning at 283 North End Road in Cincinnatus, according to the Cortland County 911 Center.
He was transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. His condition is unknown.
