The sting happened between the hours of 11 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday at bars and taverns "frequented by college students and other young adults," police said.
Of the 15 people ticketed, 14 are SUNY Cortland students, according to police. Five people were also ticketed for possessing alcohol while under the age of 21.
The fake IDs were turned over to the DMV for administrative action, which can include a 90-day suspension of driving privileges.
Officers from the Cortland Police Department will begin visiting students living off-campus this week to "advise them of the state and local laws that govern their conduct," police said.
DMV stings and alcohol enforcement details have been scheduled for the near future, police said.
