CORTLAND, N.Y. – Three city of Cortland lawmakers and two Cortland County legislators face challengers in Thursday's primary election.

In the city, three Democratic incumbents are facing opponents:
– Kathryn Silliman, who represents the city's second ward, faces a challenge from Thomas Terwilliger, co-owner of the Red Jug Pub.
– Ken Dye, third ward representative, faces a challenge from Gary Thomas, a former Cortland County legislator.
– Linda Ferguson, seventh ward incumbent, is being challenged by Kristen Dye.
At the county level, Derek Reynolds, a firefighter with the city of Cortland, is looking to unseat Amy Cobb as the democratic representative for the second district in Cortland County.
Joseph Steinhoff, who represents the county's 12th district, faces a challenge from Lisa Miller.
