HOMER, NY – The Center for the Arts of Homer is proud to announce its upcoming fall concert season, starting with Hot Tuna Acoustic Duo, in their only Central New York appearance.

“This has been an exciting time for our Main Stage committee,” says Executive Director Ty Marshal. “Our volunteers, with the assistance of Chris Merkley, John Sanders and Dan Smalls Productions, have done an amazing job pulling together a vibrant, eclectic concert season with some extremely talented artists. This season will also bring changes to enhance the concert experience. One noticeable change, our Social Hour will now be the ‘Dasher’s Preshow’ featuring local bands in our lobby before our Main Stage concert."

On Friday, September 25th at 8 p.m., Hot Tuna Acoustic Duo will take center stage. For more than four decades, the legendary blues rock American group has toured and recorded some of the best and most memorable mixed Americana roots music with eclectic variations on blues and rock and roll. And Hot Tuna is still going strong – some would say stronger than ever.

The adored duo, Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen, have worked on-and-off since 1969. Despite their beginnings as a mere spin-off of psychedelic 60’s band Jefferson Airplane, they have been giving their fans the best of both worlds in blues: spicy electric renditions and Americana-flavored acoustic versions. Hot Tuna is a tight, masterful duo that is on the cutting edge of amazing music.

For many old and new fans of Hot Tuna, this summer has been a blast, with a welcomed Hot Tuna tour. This is Hot Tuna Acoustic Duo’s only scheduled appearance in Central New York.

The Dasher’s Preshow in the lobby begins shortly after 7 p.m. and will feature local favorite, Merkley and Morgan. With a musical collaboration of almost 20 years, Chris Merkley and Stiv Morgan have been long-standing staples of the Central New York music scene. Both graduates of Homer High School, Merkley & Morgan have built their reputation with the help of acoustic and resonator guitars, stomping feet, blues harmonica and harmony vocals. They consistently pack local clubs delivering high-energy performances of blues, folk, rock, country and Americana music.

Tickets: Adults: $48; Seniors: $43; Students (18+): $20; 18 and under: Free.

Hot Tuna Acoustic Duo is sponsored by Russ & Janet Oechsle and Mike & Kathleen Shafer, as well as, our season sponsors: The Cortland Voice, The Cortland Beer Company, WXHC 101.5 FM, The Cayuga Radio Group, and Linani’s Catering/The Sherman House Restaurant.
