Police: Man in custody after threatening TC3 students with airsoft gun

DRYDEN, N.Y. – A man is in custody after police say he pointed an airsoft gun at students in a Tompkins Cortland Community College residence hall Thursday night.

Police were called around 5:30 p.m. to Cascadilla Hall after reports that a man with a black pistol was threatening student, according to a news release by Beau Saul, director of Campus Police.

When they arrived, student Tobias L. Dixson, 19, of New York City, was taken into custody.

He's charged with felonies for second-degree burglary and second-degree attempted robbery. He's also facing misdemeanor charges for three counts of menacing.

Dixson was arraigned in the Town of Groton Court and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of posting $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.

School officials said students who were threatened by Dixon have spoken to campus police and are in the process of being contacted by the college’s Counseling Center.

Dixson has been banned from all TC3 property.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
