Shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Department responded to Route 26 in the town of Cincinnatus for a reported motor vehicle accident.

Officers arrived to find a heavily damaged vehicle located in the ditch, but no driver.

Jacob L. Manley, of Willet, the operator of the vehicle, had fled the scene, according to Lt. Troy Boice with the sheriff's department.

Manley was later located at his residence uninjured. Deputies determined that Manley was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle, striking the ditch and rolling the vehicle.

Manley was charged with driving while intoxicated, along with numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.

He was scheduled to return to Cincinnatus Town Court Nov. 4.
