Cortland man arrested in connection with Onondaga County bank robbery

CORTLAND, N.Y. – A Cortland man has been charged in connection with a bank robbery that happened in Onondaga County back in September.

Matthew R. McCloskey, 26, of West State Road, was recently taken into custody by New York State Police and charged with one count of third degree robbery.

Police have charged McCloskey with robbing the M&T Bank on South Salina Street in the town of Onondaga on Sep. 15.

According to troopers, McCloskey walked into the bank at around 2 p.m., passed the teller a note and took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene.

McCloskey was arraigned in Lafayette Town Court and taken to the Jamesville Correctional Facility, where he was previously held on a parole violation warrant.

He is being held without bail.
