McGraw man charged with sexually abusing child in 2011

CORTLAND, N.Y. – A McGraw man was arrested by the city of Cortland Police Department for allegedly sexually abusing a child in 2011.

Jonathan Saxe, 22, of 7 West Main Street in McGraw, was arrested on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at his home in the village, according to Lt. Rick Troyer with the city of Cortland Police Department.

Police have charged Saxe with five counts of first degree criminal sexual act, a class B felony, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Between June and August of 2011, Saxe had sexual contact with an 11-year-old child in the city of Cortland, Troyer said.

Police were able to make the arrest after the victim came forward and told their parents. The victim was then interviewed at the Cortland County Child Advocacy Center, which provides counseling services for child victims of sexual abuse.

Saxe was arraigned on the charges in Cortland City Court Wednesday and released. He is due to appear in city court on Dec. 9.
