At around 1 p.m. Sunday, state police in Homer responded to a Cortland County 911 report of a motor vehicle accident on Kinney Gulf Road in the town of Cortlandville.

An investigation determined that Young was driving "while her ability was impaired by drugs when she crashed into a ditch," state police said in a press release.

Police arrested Heather M. Young, 27, of Moravia, on a felony DWAI (driving while ability impaired) charge. The charge was a felony because Young has a prior conviction for DWI within the last 10 years, troopers said.

Young was arraigned in Cortlandville Town Court and taken to Cortland County jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $6,000 property bond.

She is due back in court today.
