Police: Cortland man burglarized Ithaca school

ITHACA, N.Y. — A man accused of burglarizing Ithaca High School left personal items behind at the crime scene, police said.

Police were called Tuesday to the 1400 block of North Cayuga Street for complaints about a suspicious person, officials said in a news release.

Police found Mark Delang, 24, of Cortland, who matched the description of the suspicious person, near Ithaca High School.

Police said they detained Delang and found a digital camera, pair of shorts, and set of keys in his possession. The items belong to Ithaca High School and were stolen from there.

Police said that in addition to having the stolen items, Delang left personal items inside IHS while committing the crime.

He was charged with a felony for third-degree burglary and arraigned in Ithaca City Court.

Delang was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of posting $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 property bond.
