Doors will open at 5 p.m. at the Palace Theatre in Syracuse for a Bernie Sanders Fundraiser concert Jan. 8. at the 700-seat venue. The event is sponsored by Funk N' Waffles Downtown.

The "Fund the Bern'" event was originally scheduled to take place at Funk N' Waffles, but mounting interest in the fundraiser prompted organizers to seek a larger venue, according to Syracuse.com's Chris Baker.

Colleen Kattau, a Cortland musician and a Spanish professor at SUNY Cortland, is scheduled to perform with Jane Zell and friends at 6:30 p.m. Chris Merkley, also a Cortland-based musician, is scheduled to perform at 6:50 p.m.

Other scheduled performers include Syracuse-based acts Sophistafunk and Castle Creek. More than 1,000 people have RSVP's to the event on Facebook.
