Anthony P. Damato, 34, was charged with misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child, menacing, criminal mischief, harassment and unlawful growing of cannabis.
Troopers say they were made aware of a dispute that occurred at a home in Dryden and continued when the family drove to a doctor's appointment in Lansing.
An investigation determined that during a physical dispute with his girlfriend, Damato refused to let her call 911 for help, police said.
Their child was present during the dispute, according to police. Troopers also discovered that Damato was growing cannabis in his home and was driving with a suspended license.
Damato was arraigned in Lansing Town Court and remanded to Tompkins County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond.
He was scheduled to appear in Dryden Town Court Wednesday.
