CORTLAND, N.Y. — The Cortland County Family YMCA is hosting a Spin-a-thon and shopping event on Saturday, January 23, 2016 to benefit longtime member Ellen VanSlyke Batzer, and her husband, Mike.

The Batzers were blessed with twin daughters, Georgia May and Lilianna Grace, on November 7, 2015. These beautiful blessings were born at 27 weeks, a full 3 months premature. While they are receiving incredible care at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, Ellen has been staying most nights at the Ronald McDonald House. Between that cost, meals and parking, expenses are adding up quickly.

It doesn’t matter if you’re an avid cyclist or someone who’s never seen a bike! This day is about having fun, working up a sweat (a lot or a little – you decide), and making a difference. Sign up for 50-minute rides beginning at 7 a.m. The last ride is at 12 p.m. There will be shopping and raffles in the Community Room from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Thirty One Gifts, Mary Kay, Tupperware and Nerium will be available and Evolution Massage will be offering chair massages. Items to be raffled off include: gift card and gift package from Indulge, Personal Training Session at the YMCA with Jason Morgan, one month Family (or 3-month individual) YMCA Membership, 1-hour massage with Evolution Massage, Syracuse Basketball tickets and Cornell Hockey Tickets. Plus other great items from our vendors.

Registration is $10.00 per 50 minute class. Sign ups will be at the front desk at the YMCA and new riders will need a quick 10 minute orientation scheduled before the event. Drop-in day care will also be available. All money raised will go directly to Ellen and her family.
