Update: Authorities identify three injured in Cortlandville crash

The Cortland County Sheriff's Office has identified three people who were involved in a crash in Cortlandville Tuesday night that sent two people to the hospital.

Adam Cox, 19, of Vestal, has been identified as the driver of a Hyundai Elantra that spun into oncoming traffic on Bennie Road at around 6 p.m. Tuesday. Cox was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse with non-life threatening injuries.

His passenger, Kimberly Bosket, 25, of Endicott, remains in critical condition at the Syracuse hospital, according to Lt. Rob Derksen with the sheriff's department.

Cox's vehicle collided with a Chevy Malibu being driven by Dennis Welch, 66, of Virgil, the sheriff's office said. Welch's injuries were not life-threatening.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. — Weather and road conditions likely factored into a crash Tuesday that left a 25-year-old woman with what authorities believe are serious injuries, according to the Cortland County Sheriff's Office.

Shortly after 6 p.m., the sheriff's office responded to a report of a two-car crash on Bennie Road in Cortlandville.

A 19-year-old man was traveling west on Bennie Road in a Hyundai Elantra when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and spun into the oncoming lane of traffic, colliding with a 66-year-old man driving a Chevy Malibu, the sheriff's office said in a press release Tuesday, adding that the accident is still under investigation.

The 19-year-old driver and a 25-year-old female passenger in the vehicle were transported by TLC Ambulance to University Hospital in Syracuse. The 25-year-old woman is believed to have suffered a serious head injury from the accident, the sheriff's office said.

The identities of those involved in the crash are being withheld until family members are notified, authorities said Tuesday.

The driver of the Chevy Malibu sustained minor injuries but was not transported to a hospital.

The Cortlandville Fire Department assisted law enforcement at the scene.
