Propane truck rolls over in East Homer

HOMER, N.Y. — East River Road was closed to traffic for several hours Wednesday as crews cleared the scene of an accident involving a propane truck.

Shortly after 12 p.m. Wednesday, the Homer Fire Department was called to a report of a rollover accident on East River Road between East River Crossing Road and East Homer Crossing Road.

The driver of a truck carrying propane was backing into a driveway when the vehicle rolled over, according to a law enforcement official on scene. The driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene, the official said.

The propane tank began leaking, but crews were able to shut off all of the valves on the vehicle to prevent further spillage, the official said.

The Cortland County Sheriff's Department, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police, the Cortland Fire Department's Hazmat Team and TLC Ambulance responded to the accident.
