The doubleheader at Corey Gymnasium begins with the women's game at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at7:30 p.m.
Raffles will be conducted during both games, with the proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society. The event is being organized by Cortland men's basketball coach Tom Spanbauer and women's basketball coach Jeannette Mosher.
This year's event will feature a "throwback 70's night" theme with 70's music, tie-dye shirts, and other artifacts from that era. Fans are encouraged to get in the spirit and wear 70s-themed outfits to the games.
The event is one of many cancer research fundraising programs held by college basketball teams nationwide in conjunction with the "Coaches vs. Cancer" program. "Coaches vs. Cancer" is an alliance that was formed by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the American Cancer Society in October 1993. The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) endorsed the program in the fall of 1995. The program is dedicated to fighting cancer through increased support by basketball fans for research, patient services and prevention education.
