Crews battle house fire in Homer

HOMER, N.Y. — Firefighters from four different departments were called to a structure fire at a home in the town of Homer Wednesday.

At around 1:45 p.m., the Homer Fire Department was called to a home at 5433 Mead Road for a report of a house that was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews arrived to find the roof of the home on fire, according to Homer Fire Chief Robert Johnson.

All of the people inside the home were able to make it out safely, Johnson said.

Crews have been unable to get inside the home due to the extensive damage caused by the fire. he said. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.

Mead Road remains closed to traffic Wednesday afternoon as firefighters remain on scene. Fire departments from Truxton, McGraw and Cortlandville also responded to the call.
