The training will take place Tuesday, Feb. 16 and Wednesday, Feb. 17 at Homer Intermediate School at 58 Clinton Street, the department announced Monday.

The annual training event allows local law enforcement agencies to work in tandem in an effort to improve school safety, Homer Police Chief Robert Pitman said.

"This training continues a partnership between the Homer School District and law enforcement agencies to work together to prevent violence in our schools, and also to be better prepared to respond to such events should they occur," Pitman said in a news release Monday.

Officers from the Homer Police Department, the City of Cortland Police Department, the Cortland County Sheriff's Department, New York State Police, New York State University Police, New York State Park Police and New York State Conservation Police will be participating in the two-day event.
