Heavy rain in low lying areas has been reported at several locations across central New York, causing slippery travel conditions Tuesday afternoon through the evening hours.

Additional rainfall up to an inch and a half through the rest of the day will cause significant rises on area streams and creeks, along with additional drainage problem in some areas, the advisory stated.

The weather service is asking drivers to not attempt to travel across flooded roads.

Rain is expected to transition back into snow late Tuesday afternoon as temperatures start to dip below freezing. Cortland is expected to get between 1-3 inches of snow by Wednesday morning.
