CORTLAND, N.Y. – National Grid is working to restore power to more than 800 homes in the city of Cortland and surrounding areas Thursday evening.

A Cortland County 911 dispatcher said Thursday that the outages are likely related to an electrical problem with a transformer in Polkville.
The City of Cortland Fire Department could not immediately confirm Thursday that the incidents were related.
As of 9:30 p.m., more than 850 homes in the county were without power, the majority of them in the city, according to National Grid.
