Pi Gamma Delta is accused of "alleged hazing involving the consumption of alcohol." Pi Kappa Phi is accused of using hazing that includes, "intimidation, verbal abuse, harassment, alcohol consumption and calisthenics."
The university released the following statements about the incidents:
The university stated that interim suspension means a chapter has to stop operations that allow the fraternity house to be used as anything other than a residence.
"Interim suspension is used when details of a credible report compel the university to cease activities of the organization for the safety of the members, those joining or guests," the university said in a statement.
