Update: Groton officer was responding to call, struck another vehicle – New details have emerged about a crash in Groton on Sunday involving a Groton police officer. According to a report from WHCU, the officer was driving down Route 222, responding to an emergency call when he struck the rear end of a vehicle that was turning onto Williams Street.

5 – Cargill mine resumes operations
Almost two months after accident, Cargill mine to resume operations – Almost two months after a malfunction left 17 miners stranded overnight in a mine shaft, the Cargill salt mine has resumed operations, according to a statement from the company.

The last of 17 Cargill salt miners emerge after being rescued from an elevator stuck 900 feet below the surface. A rescue rescue cage lowered from a crane to bring them up four at a time.

7 – 20-year-old Cortland man faces rape charge
Cortland man charged with rape Friday – A Cortland man has been arrested in connection with a reported rape at a home on Lime Hollow Road, the Cortland County Sheriff's Department announced Friday. Cyler Marquis, 20, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree rape. a class B felony, second-degree aggravated sexual abuse, a class C felony, forcible touching and unlawful imprisonment, both misdemeanors.

8 – Community rallies for Dryden teacher
Dryden rallies behind teacher: "She does not teach music, she teaches life" – Music teacher Krista Easton is hailed by students and parents as one of the best things to happen to the Dryden School District. On Thursday, Feb. 25, she was escorted off school grounds and placed on leave.

9 – Spring Fling performers announced
White Panda, Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign to headline SUNY Cortland's 'Spring Fling' – Concert-goers can expect triple the entertainment when SUNY Cortland’s annual Spring Fling concert takes place Saturday, April 30, as three acts will headline the event: electronic dance duo The White Panda along with hip hop artists Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign. Organized by the College’s Student Activities Board (SAB), the show is slated to begin at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m. Only a limited number of tickets will be sold.

10 – Dryden brewery plans expansion
Hopshire brewery plans expansion with $50,000 award – Hopshire Farm and Brewery, a small business in Tompkins County, received $50,000 of the Upstate Revitalization Initiative’s $500 million investment allocated to the Southern Tier region to improve its economy.
