Cortland man charged with DWI after crashing vehicle

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. — A Cortland man was found to be driving while intoxicated when he crashed his vehicle on Route 11 on Tuesday, the Cortland County Sheriff's Office said.

At 6:14 p.m., officers responded 3594 U.S. Route 11 in the town of Cortlandville for for a complaint of a property damage accident.

Officers arrived and found a red Chevrolet pickup truck over the embankment and a man identified as Jonathan D. Breed, 63, of Kellogg Road, Cortland, N.Y., standing next to the vehicle.

The vehicle showed extensive damage; it had struck the guard rail and several trees, authorities said.

Breed was found to be driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to keep right, driving across hazardous markings.

He was remanded to the Cortland County jail and released on his own recognizance to appear in Cortlandville Town Court on April 18.
