Cortland church displays Syracuse pride

CORTLAND, N.Y. — When Christel Donlick isn't homeschooling her kids or teaching math as an adjunct professor at Tompkins Cortland Community College, you can find her helping out with events and activities at her local church.

Donlick, of Cortland, and her children are members of the First United Methodist Church on Route 222 in Cortland. Every week, they are in charge of changing the signage that drivers see as they pass by the church.

Normally, one sign of the side will feature announcements; the other, an inspirational excerpt from religious text.

This week, however, Donlick and her kids felt like switching things up.

Donlick admitted that while she's not a hardcore Syracuse fan, she is excited about the Orange's run to the Final Four.

"My husband is definitely a Syracuse fan," Donlick said. "He loves the game and is very excited about it. You have to cheer them on."

Needless to say, Donlick will be watching the game with her family on Saturday. The Syracuse Orange will take on the number-1 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels at 8:49 p.m. at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
