Homer man charged with DWI after crashing into field

HOMER, N.Y. — A Cortland County man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he lost control of his vehicle and ended up in a field near Route 13, according to the Cortland County Sheriff's Office.

At about 1:46 a.m. Wednesday, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office responded to Route 13 near Heath Camp Road in the town of Homer for a one-car motor vehicle accident.

Upon arrival, officers located Chad M. Tuttle, 39, of Copeland Avenue in Homer, near a vehicle that was stuck in a field.

Tuttle told officers that he lost control of the vehicle after coming off of Heath Camp Road.

He was arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated – blood alcohol content of .18% or higher.

Tuttle was also charged with violations of failure to stop at a stop sign and driving across hazardous markings.

He was arraigned in Preble Town Court and sent to Cortland County Jail on $750 cash bail or $1,5000 bond. Tuttle is scheduled to appear in Homer Town Court April 19.
