CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland County Sheriff's deputies made several DWI arrests this past weekend.

The sheriff's office released the following information Monday morning:
Nassau County man charged with DWI, marijuana possession
Shortly after 2:30 a.m. Saturday, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Tompkins Street in Cortland.
The vehicle was stopped for speeding. The driver, Thomas D. Santiago, of East Meadow, N.Y., was found to be intoxicated, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Santiago was also found to be in possession of an undisclosed amount marijuana, authorities said. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, speed in zone and unlawful possession of a marijuana.
He was processed and released on traffic citations and an appearance ticket.
Tully driver charged with DWI
At around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, a patrol officer with the Cortland County Sheriff's Office pulled over a driver on Truxton Tully Road in the town of Truxton after his vehicle reportedly left the roadway.
During the stop, the driver told the officer he was attempting to reply to a text message. The driver was "subsequently found to be under the influence of alcohol," according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Brock T. Freer, 18, of Tully, was charged with misdemeanor DWI, operating a motor vehicle while using a mobile device, failure to use designated lane, uninspected motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, operating without insurance operating with a suspended registration and improper plates.
Freer was arraigned in Marathon Town Court and released. He is due back in court May 11.
Cortland man charged with DWI had prior drunk driving conviction
At around 10:50 p.m. Saturday, officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop in the city of Cortland.
Gerald O. Casity III, 37, of Cortland, was charged with driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a class E felony; first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, a class E felony; refusal to take a breath test and failure to signal, both traffic infractions.
Casity was arraigned in Cortland City Court and given an appearance ticket.
Freeville man found "slumped over the wheel"
At around 12:05 a.m. Sunday, sheriff's deputies observed a tan Hyundai Elantra parked on the side of McLean Road in the town of Cortlandville.
The vehicle was occupied by Kristy L. Strickland, 22, of Freeville. Officers observed the driver "slumped over the wheel with the vehicle still running and the headlights on," the sheriff's office said in a news release.
Officers found Strickland was under the influence of alcohol and in possession of an undisclosed amount of marijuana.
Strickland was charged DWI and several traffic violations. She was released on her own recognizance and given an appearance ticket.
