Cortland woman charged with manufacturing meth

CORTLAND, N.Y. — A city of Cortland woman was charged Friday with unlawfully manufacturing methamphetamine, the Cortland County Sheriff's Office announced Monday.

At around 10:40 p.m. Friday, members of the sheriff's office went to 8 South Ave in the city of Cortland to locate a person on an outstanding warrant.

As officers approached the door to one of the apartment, an officer noticed a backpack being tossed out of the window of the apartment. Authorities would later find items in the backpack used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Dixie Sallis, 33, of Cortland, was arrested after admitting to throwing the backpack out of the window. Police were unable to locate the person who was wanted on the warrant, according to Lt. Todd Caufield with the sheriff's department.

Sallis was arraigned in Cortland City Court on one count of third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a class D felony.

She was taken to the Cortland County Jail on $1,000 bail and scheduled to reappear in city court today.
