Cortland women's lacrosse to host NCAA regional tournament

The nationally top-ranked and defending national champion Cortland women's lacrosse team will host a four-team NCAA Division III tournament regional Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22, at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex.

Cortland (19-0) will face Pomona-Pitzer (Calif.) (16-3) Saturday at 11:30 a.m., followed by Catholic University (D.C.) (12-7) versus Springfield College (Mass.) (15-5) at 2:30 p.m. The two third-round winners will play in Cortland on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the national quarterfinals. The winner of the regional will advance to the NCAA Division III "final four" May 28-29 at Talen Energy Stadium (formerly PPL Park) in Chester, Pa.

Cortland advanced to the third round with a 17-1 win over Keene State last Sunday. Pomona-Pitzer advanced with a 12-7 second-round win over Chapman, Catholic defeated Messiah, 15-9, and Springfield edged Bates, 3-2.

Cortland enters Saturday's contest with a 38-game winning streak, dating back to last season, and a 76-game home winning streak that goes back to the 2010 season.
