Sheriff: Cincinnatus man threatened person with knife in Walmart parking lot

CORTLAND, N.Y. – A Cincinnatus man was arrested Friday after allegedly threatening another person with a knife the Walmart parking lot, the Cortland County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday.

On Friday, sheriff's deputies responded to Walmart for a weapons complaint. An investigation determined that Matthew D. Cranston, 22, displayed a gravity knife and threatened an individual in the parking lot, authorities said.

Cranston was arrested and transported to the sheriff's office for processing. He was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, also a misdemeanor.

Cranston was arraigned at Cortlandville Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
