Groton mans wins $1 million from lottery scratch-off

GROTON, N.Y. – A Groton man has won a $1 million prize from a lottery scratch off ticket, according to a news release from the New York Lottery.

The as-yet-unidentified man will be presented with a novelty check on Wednesday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at the Dryden Xtra Mart where he purchased the winning ticket. The check will be presented by the New York Lottery's Yolanda Vega.

The game was New York Poker; the winner won by beating the champion's hand with a full house.

According to the release, he is the first Tompkins resident to win since 2013.
